Pegasus (The Winged Horse)
A large northern constellation included by Ptolemy in his list of 48 (c. AD 140). It is noted for the prominent square - the Square of Pegasus - formed by its three brightest stars and Alpha Andromedae (Alpheratz), all of which are second magnitude. Alpha Andromedae used to be considered to belong to Pegasus and was known as Delta Pegasi.
